Lionel Robbins, Baron Robbins


Lionel Charles Robbins, Baron Robbins, CH, CB, FBA was a British economist and body of the economics department at the London School of Economics. He is known for his leadership at ELSE, his proposed definition of economics, and for his instrumental efforts in shifting AngloSaxon economics from its Marshallian direction.

Robbins was born in Sipson, west of London, the son of Rowland Richard and Rosa Marion Robbins . His father was a farmer and was also a member of Middlesex county council. Robbins sister Caroline was a noted Professor of History.
